Olive - Online Shopping Unboxed

React Native Mobile App for iOS

 AppStore link

Project: Olive: Online Shopping Unboxed, Mobile React Native App for iOS
Date: 06/2020 — 10/2021
Employer: WhitePrompt Inc — whiteprompt.com
Client: Olive Technologies LLC (California, New York / U.S.) — shopolive.comLinkedin

Company Description: Olive is a delivery and returns service that aims to reduce waste from online shopping by consolidating deliveries and ending single-use packaging. The company was founded by Nate Faust, who previously cofounded Jet.com in 2014 before it was sold to Walmart in 2016 for $3.3 billion (the largest U.S. e-commerce acquisition at that time). Olive has partnered with many fashion and accessory brands, including Adidas, Anthropologie, Everlane, Ray-Ban, Goop, Free People, and Hugo Boss. The Shop Olive platform allows customers to shop from various fashion retailers, and all orders are consolidated into a weekly delivery at an Olive consolidation hub. The orders arrive in a reusable and collapsible Olive shipper, with no waste or recycling needed. Returns can also be made easily through the Olive app. This business model allows carriers to deliver in bulk, further reducing emissions, and eliminates multiple deliveries and the need for cardboard boxes and trips to the post office or store for returns.

Project Description: Shop Olive is a mobile app that allows customers to buy, return, or consign clothing from top US fashion retailers. The app features hundreds of retailers whose websites can be accessed within the app or through a Chrome extension for desktop users. Once an order is ready to be placed, the app prompts the customer to accept their automatically populated "Olive address" (the nearest Olive distribution hub based on the user's zip code), and the order is placed automatically. It offers an auto-checkout and payment experience and customers can then view their orders, return or consign items, and track their orders with real-time updates.

Role and main responsibilities: As the Lead Developer of a three-person squad at Olive, my main duties were to establish the app's architecture and manage its core development and maintenance. This included implementing new features, collaborating with the UX team on component design, and addressing bugs and improving existing features. I also managed the release cycle of test app builds using Bitrise and the distribution of the app through the App Store. Some of the key projects I worked on were:

- Developing the React Native app for iOS and setting up its architecture
- Search system for retailers and orders tracking
- Implementing custom checkout auto-completion for retailer websites, which involved injecting the necessary JavaScript code into the webview for auto-completing each retailer's website into the webview and communicating with React Native to display and populate checkout information
- Managing app store distribution and beta testing with TestFlight
- Monitoring the app's performance and managing its release cycle.

Client: Estudio RPY (City of Buenos Aires / LATAM) — estudiorpy.com.arLinkedin

Company Description: RPY is a legal firm that specializes in labor law, offering expert guidance to workers who have experienced an accident on the job or developed an occupational disease. The firm provides comprehensive support throughout the legal claim process, ensuring that the worker is fully assisted until the case is successfully resolved.

Project Description: I was tasked with creating a system to streamline the process of managing lawyer forms and appointments. The system would guide users through the various stages of the firm's intake process, starting with scheduling appointments for potential clients and then conducting initial interviews where clients provide personal information. The system would also validate data by utilizing the register of people from AFIP (Argentine federal tax agency) through a SOAP protocol. As the process progresses, the lawyers would have access to all necessary information for each stage until the case is ready to be submitted to the court. Additionally, the system would allow for tracking of case progress, notes, and court date scheduling. It would also include a search and filtering feature for all cases handled by the firm.

Role & main responsibilites: My responsibilities in this project included analyzing the firm's analog processes and develop a solution to gather data from it's initial reception, the development of the demand and the status tracking of all of the cases that the firm manages. My duties included generating documents for the case analysis, using HTML5/CSS3 and JQuery for frontend development and PHP/MySQL for backend development. Specific tasks included:

- Providing a dashboard for the firm's management to have an overview of the firm's cases and their status
- Implementing a task and deadline view for lawyers to track their progress on each case
- Generation of various PDF documents for different stages for each case

STHIL

Web based Management System

Project: Tech Services Management System for STHIL S.A
Date: 01/2015 — 06/2016
Employer: Kiabit Solutions (Self employed)
Client: STHIL S.A (City of Buenos Aires / LATAM) — sthil.com.arLinkedin

Company Description: STHIL S.A. is an Argentine company that has been providing machinery and equipment for the lumber industry since 1950. It specializes in the sale and maintenance of machinery used to manufacture wooden products such as furniture, doors, windows, and wooden floors. The company sources its machinery mainly from Europe and ensures that it is equipped with the latest technology to meet the specific needs of its clients, which range from independent work units to medium and small industries and major businesses. STHIL S.A. also has a team of engineers and technical staff to assist with the setup, training, assembly, and disassembly of the machinery.

Project Description: In 2015, Sthil approached me with the goal of creating a web-based management system to track the entire technical service process. The company needed a custom solution to manage the various stages of a technical service request, starting with the receipt of an initial request and the creation of a quotation, and then following the approval process, the schedule of technician visits, and the creation of technical reports. The system allows service technicians to generate different types of service reports as PDFs and track the status of each request until the service is completed. The system also includes features to track information about machines and services performed on them, client schedules and accounts, and other relevant data.

Role & main responsibilites: In this project, my responsibilities included analyzing, designing, creating database models, developing, and maintaining the project. To standardize Sthil's analog processes, I developed a proposal for the standardized reception of service requests and status tracking. My duties also included generating documents for the case analysis, using HTML5/CSS3 and JQuery for frontend development and PHP/MySQL for backend development. Specific tasks included:

- Developing the dashboard for tech services and machine startups
- Search system for technical services, machines and customers
- Details pages for services, clients, and machines
- Technical interventions page
- Generation of various PDF documents for different stages of technical services (quotations, machine start-up, technical intervention)
- Internal chat system
